Biography

Dr.Aishath Ali Naaz is the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and founder of Maldives Institute for Psychological Services, Training and Research. She won the national award in recognition for developing Mental Health Services in the Maldives (2012).
She has a PhD in Clinical Psychology (2010), The University of Manchester, U.K. She has an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS, India (1999); MSc in Psychology, India (1996). She has presented papers, and chaired sessions in conferences, seminars held in Australia, Argentina, China, USA, UK, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Malta, Singapore, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Maldives.
She has written several books in her local language to create awareness on mental health issues and have run talk shows and radio programs on local channels on issues related to mental health in the Maldives. She has travelled widely across the atolls of Maldives and conducted workshops to create awareness on mental health over the past 20 years.
Dr. Naaz who is the first trained clinical psychologist has worked in the Maldives from 1999 and continues to be a practicing clinical psychologist in the Maldives. She is also a Senior Lecturer (visiting) of Clinical Psychology at Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology, Colombo from 2016 onwards.
