Dr. Tracey Bone, RSW is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. A Registered Social Work, Professor Bone has worked in the fields of adult federal corrections, hospital social work, and mental health, and continues to maintain a private practice. Professor Bone teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculty of Social Work, teaching clinical practice, and research courses. Her primary research interest is in the area of mental health. More specifically Professor Bones’ expertise is in the area of Deaf studies. She has recently expanded her mental health research interests to include eating disorders and gambling; exploring both the sibling experience of eating disorders, and, separately, gambling in the disability and Deaf communities. She has served as an invited expert witness in a human rights complaint, with her report resulting in changes to training content for the federal government. She is the author of a number of peer-reviewed journal articles, and a book chapter; has presented locally, nationally and internationally on her research; is a manuscript and book reviewer; and is sought after for her expertise in the area of Deaf studies.
